Businesses must shift to the creation of experiential value in the marketplace as the continuing engine of economic growth and job creation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n – Pine and Gilmore, May 24, 2020.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Herewith, is my response to him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Hey, <name withheld – he\u2019s MY<\/strong> client<\/em>!)\u2026\u00a0 A long answer to a short question\u2026buckle up; it\u2019s going to get granular\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n From where I stand, \u201cexperience\u201d is literally everything; and everything is experience. Touching an ice cube is an experience, breathing is an experience. Every person has their experience of any and every thing they encounter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Then, there\u2019s nuance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n My experience of something will differ from your experience of that same thing as it is experienced through our individual filters\u2026physiological (taste buds, vision), psychological, spiritual and so on. For instance, one person may see a beautiful sunset and think of it as a gift from their God, while another may see it as a visually beautiful confluence of physics and chemistry, while yet another may see it as an indication of tomorrow\u2019s weather (\u201cRed sky at morning, sailors take warning; red sky at night, sailor\u2019s delight\u201d). <\/p>\n\n\n\n So, the exact, same phenomenon is experienced differently by different people at the same time\u2026 I could go on\u2026(and have, on occasion!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Now, \u201cExperience,\u201d – as conceived, created and crafted – is another Thing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Boiled down; I see crafted \u201cExperience\u201d as, ultimately, the absence of distraction. Full immersion. You\u2019ll hear me talk about Circumventing Preconception <\/em>and Comfortable Disorientation<\/em>\u2026things that are both methodology and intended result. Essentially, the further I can \u201cget into the heads\u201d of my audiences the more profound the Experience can be\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n The more personal and intimate I can make an Experience, the more powerful and effective it can be. Simply put, many shows\/spectacles\/experiences can be seen or watched and give massive, yet transient pleasure; while those few that are felt<\/em> leave their footprints in the hearts, souls and memories of the audience\u2026as they\u2019ve been given something they can\u2019t identify without recognizing it\u2026a subtle seed that remains and perhaps grows as time passes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n People will shout and cheer at a fantastic spectacle. They will remember and talk about it as great or \u201cawesome.\u201d But touch them with it and their eyes turn inward in reflection as their subconscious connects; attempting to describe it\u2026without words\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n I wrote a poem, once, about this experience – which I shall bore you with in closing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The final stanza being:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut there was a moment, in every city<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n When what we did went to profound from pretty<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n When guests became silent, when hearts skipped a beat<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n When each person settled more into the seat.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The air in the room became quieter, still;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n And breath was abated as hearts took the thrill.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n That\u2019s when we touched them, that\u2019s when we knew<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n We\u2019d delivered completely on our Mission, true.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n No one will ever accomplish again<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n What we have given to those where we\u2019ve been\u2026\u201d”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n But that\u2019s just me. \ud83d\ude09 <\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile: BIG NEWS!<\/p>\n\n\n\n A “Client”!
